Last Night in Vegas......

This morning, we got up at around 10:00 a.m., got ready, and went downstairs to the pastry shop in our hotel to get some lunch. I got a feta cheese and tomato basil pie pastry while Zac ate a fruit parfait.

We quickly got in the car and headed southeast toward the Hoover Dam. The drive to the dam was beautiful. We crossed over a newly built bypass bridge overlooking the dam. It was amazing. When we got to the parking garage, we had to pay $7.00 to park. It was pricey but we later found out that Hoover Dam is funded entirely on its own without government support. That makes sense but it’s still expensive.
We bought tickets to the power plant tour and went 48 stories down and 500 feet under Lake Mead. We stood on a pipe that could fill three Olympic-sized swimming pools! It’s hard to believe that the dam was man made and took only FIVE years to complete - that’s two years ahead of schedule! Wow! FYI: There were only 96 casualties in the construction of the dam and none were buried in cement. Good to know!
It was very hot at the dam. After the tour, we stopped in at the local cafe for the best “dam” Maui coconut ice cream to cool off a bit. Yum!

We left shortly after and headed back to the hotel. Before we got back, we heard that the Cosmopolitan hotel had the best buffet on the Vegas Strip. They weren’t kidding! The Wicked Spoon was delicious! It was truly the best buffet!
We walked on the Strip after dinner and came upon a big booth selling discounted show tickets for the same night. What did we get? The Peepshow starring Holly Madison, Hugh Heffner’s former top girlfriend and one of the "Girls Next Door" stars. The show was at Planet Hollywood and it was spectacular! A great Vegas experience!

After the show, we walked through some hotels, took lots of pictures, then went back to our own hotel, gambled some more, and then headed to our room, where we ordered late-night room service consisting of chicken fingers, fries, and my favorite - a spicy Bloody Mary. Ahh......what a great way to end the last night in Sin City.
