We got up late this morning. I think it could have been our late-night munchies last night that kept us awake for a while and we had a hard time falling asleep. The requested later check-out time was much needed. Thank goodness!

We drove a good 400 miles today and I didn't even fall asleep one bit!! Imagine that! I actually stayed awake! We crossed over into Arizona and it must have felt like forever before we finally pulled up to the entrance of the visitors' center at the Grand Canyon. Talk about a gorgeous scenery. It was so amazing. I don't even think the pictures do it justice. We waited while the sun set and watched as the colors of the skies turned orange, pink, and red, all shining down on the Grand Canyon until it became dark. Before we left, we went to the bookstore, looked around, and found out that the non-profit group responsible for maintaining the Grand Canyon has a special program called the "Primary Trunk," which sends information, activities, and samples of the rocks, plants, fossils, and etc. found in the Grand Canyon to schools all across the nation for a minimal shipping fee. How cool is that?! Looks like we'll be planning to do that next school year!
By the time we left the Grand Canyon, it was very late. We rolled into Flagstaff, AZ, at around 10:00 p.m., checked in to our hotel, and headed straight to the IHOP next door. Full bellies always make us feel better. We finished our meal, went to our room, and crashed for the night. Tomorrow, we visit the Caduceus Tasting Room, owned by Tool's Maynard Keenan!
